Basics
There is the possibility to use a native operating system, for example Ubuntu, which will build the system used here on a virtual machine.
1 Install OS
1.1 Installing Linux VM
Tested with Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.0 and ubuntu-18.04.2 LTS,
The username, epics was used in this installation. Please replace the correct username in this documentation if necessary.
This example creates EPICS in the user home directory. For final installations a more permanent directory like /usr/local or /opt may be desirable.
